So, what is Gratitude?? Gratitude is expressing appreciation for what you have…and while you probably know this…knowing the way is not going the way!
A Study from the University of California found that people who were more grateful had less inflammation and better rhythms of the heart. Besides heart health, gratitude has been shown to lower blood pressure, increase sleep and decrease stress hormones like cortisol- just like with a massage!
Plus when you are appreciative of what you have, it makes it easier to be HAPPY! What a concept!
Here’s where to start!
• Try a gratitude journal: write down one thing every day you are grateful for- the plus is that you can look back the next time you are having a not so good day!
• Stop comparing yourself to others: we are all unique (face it, if everyone was the same then life would be boring!) so focus on what you do best or what makes you different than your friends and family. Having trouble? Ask those close to you what their favorite part about you is!
• Pay attention to the little things: Sunshiny days, a stranger opening the door, learning something new, meeting a new person- all small things that may have happened in your day but noticing these big positives can go a long way!
• Stay positive: What you think about you bring about so thinking happy, grateful thoughts will bring you more positivity…it certainly can’t hurt!
Gratitude is Giving!
We all know how great we feel when we give. Look for extra special opportunities to give the gift of comfort, warmth and security with a gentle massage or a more vigorous reiki experience. What better way to show the people you care about them?
